The surface decoration is the distinguishing element of my work, and I use a complex range of techniques to achieve the final piece. My inspiration comes from the Dutch paintings I saw when growing up in Holland, and twentieth century artists and designers in Britain. Having a garden in Suffolk, where I work, also contributes.

Each piece is either hand-thrown or built up from slabs of clay. I want every piece to have a character and strength of its own, whether it is a large vessel or a mug. The decorative techniques I use give a surface texture and depth of colour which bring the designs alive.

Every pot is signed and is unique.

These bowls are around 30cms across the rim.

They work well as salad bowls or fruit bowls, or simply left to show the interior decoration.
